Firefighters and members of several other unions made their voices heard at a Yonkers town hall meeting Thursday, demanding fair contracts. Members of more than nine unions, including firefighters, police officers and teachers, are demanding they need a raise. While firefighters and police officers say their contracts expired almost two years ago, several other union contracts are up this summer. They are insisting the mayor at least open communication lines for contract talks. Mayor Phil Amicone (D-Norwalk) says he's waiting for budget information from Albany. Amicone insists he cannot discuss specific numbers until he has a better idea of revenue numbers from the city and state. Amicone expects to submit his budget to the Yonkers City Council by April 15. However, the city is reportedly facing a $45 million deficit.
