Westchester County is number one in the nation, that is when it comes to property taxes.
A study by the U.S. Census Bureau says Westchester County has the highest property taxes of any county in the entire nation. The study ranked the 775 most populated counties in the country. It found Westchester homeowners pay an average of nearly $7,400 a year in property taxes. The county?s close proximity to New York City was cited as a reason for the high taxes as well as good schools and many services that residents enjoy.
Long Island?s Nassau County scored second on the list with Rockland County coming in sixth.
