Westchester County is considering a new proposal to stop the sale of e-cigarettes that look like everyday items.
The ban would cover vaping products shaped like USB drives, pens, car keys, and phone cases.
School leaders say these devices have been hard to keep out of classrooms. "We need to create protective factors for children," said Mary Fox-Alter, Superintendent of the Ossining School District. "We need to allow them to grow without hidden devices that make it difficult for parents, for educators, for administrators, for principals, for coaches to see that vaping can occur."
County officials say anyone caught selling these products would face fines.
The proposal will go before the County Board of Legislators for a vote.
