Westchester and Hudson Valley residents who lost relatives in the 9/11 attacks signed a beam Sunday that will support the Freedom Tower.
Laura Walker, of Airmont, signed the beam in honor of her husband who perished in the attacks. Margaret Cruz, of Pomona, lost her life partner. Cruz says it was important for her to leave a message for her loved one. Port Authority workers, Governor George Pataki (R-NY) and Ground Zero planner Daniel Libeskind were also on hand. Pataki and Libeskind signed ?life victorious? on the beam.
The beam, which is now located off Murray Street in lower Manhattan, is one of three that will be installed at Ground Zero. Officials expect the 1,776-foot Freedom Tower to be completed in five years.
