Yonkers police catch suspect while actively trying to steal from a car
Police say 28-year-old Oais Hasan was caught on Woodworth Avenue after a caller reported someone breaking into a car.

A Yonkers man was caught trying to steal from a car in Yonkers.
Police say 28-year-old Oais Hasan was caught on Woodworth Avenue after a caller reported someone breaking into a car.
Officers arrived within three minutes and found Hasan inside the vehicle. He was taken into custody at the scene.
Police say despite the incident, car larcenies in the city are down compared to this time last year.
"I think the combination of both proactive police work, the reactive police work, the technology that we're employing and the commitment from the community to make sure that they're not leaving their cars unlocked and leaving valuables in their cars," said Yonkers Police Detective Lt. Frank DiDomizio.
Hasan is charged with petit larceny.
