More than $170,000 was raised in Valhalla during the Westchester Heart Walk held Saturday at Kensico Dam Plaza.
Organizers said the event not only promotes exercise but also teaches life-saving skills.
"We are hopeful that everybody here is going to walk away with at least one new piece of knowledge," said Kristen Alouisa, executive director of the Westchester Fairfield American Heart Association.
Walkers covered about three miles, with proceeds supporting the American Heart Association.
