Westchester County is announcing it will continue funding to help local victims of domestic violence, thanks to the New York State Office of Victims Services.

The news comes during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

"Previous to...Oct. 1, Westchester had significant amount of funding from my agency, but because of their forward thinking, they have applied for and have successfully received funding that has doubled for Westchester County," says Elizabeth Cronin, of the New York State Office of Victims Services.

The county will see more than $20 million through 2020 that will go toward a number of programs to help victims. 

"Not only is it funding, but it's guaranteed for the three years so that we don't have to think about finding new money to replace next year, which is often the case," says CarlLa Horton, executive director of "Hope's Door.
