The Westchester County Legislature has voted 12-3 to increase the salary of the next county executive to around $230,000.
The current county executive, George Latimer, proposed the increase despite declining any raises during his own time in office. Latimer, who earns $160,000 per year, is leaving office next month to take a seat in Congress.
Deputy County Executive Kenneth Jenkins is expected to be named acting county executive next month, and would be eligible for the increased salary.
