Westchester County Executive George Latimer held a news conference Tuesday slamming utility companies for leaving residents in the dark as another storm heads toward the region.

While Latimer insisted that the county was ready to do its part to keep the roads safe, there was still a growing frustration over the role the utility companies played during the last storm.

Latimer spent the day blasting Con Edison and NYSEG for the role they played during the last storm. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were more than 40,000 homes still without power from last Friday's nor'easter.  Those numbers could increase depending on the severity of Wednesday's storm.

He blamed Con Edison and NYSEG for dropping the ball.

"Whatever the mechanisms in which they used to inform the people, the lack of information and misinformation is part of the frustration the customers feel," he said.

Latimer was not the only public official criticizing the power utilities. Gov. Andrew Cuomo called the companies’ recent actions absurd. Ben Boykin, the chair of the County Board, also called for a hearing to hold them accountable.

"We're going to put everyone on notice. This is unacceptable," he said.

Con Edison is now telling some customers they may have to wait until Friday to get their power turned on. However, with an impending storm, the date could be pushed back again for a third time in a week.
