Westchester County Executive George Latimer provided a coronavirus update.
Tuesday marked the opening of Phase 2 in Westchester.
Latimer was joined by director of Economic Development Bridget Gibbons, Croton-on-Hudson Mayor Brian Pugh, Business Council of Westchester EVP John Ravitz, RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen Owner Glenn Vogt, The Rare Bit Restaurant Managing Partner Scott Broccoli and other county business leaders.
There was a continued decline of COVID-19 .
Two months ago today there were 11,060 active cases. Now, there are 928 active cases.
Under 175 people are currently hospitalized. At the peak, there were around 12,000 people hospitalized.
Close to 190,000 people have been tested for COVID-19, about 19% of the county population.
A total of 35 people tested positive Monday.
A total of 1,396 people have died during the outbreak - one person died Monday evening. Two months ago on the same evening, 44 people died on the same night.
Outdoor restaurant seating is now open in Phase 2. Also opening are offices, real estate, vehicle sales, leases rental, dry cleaners, commercial business management, hair salons and and barbershops. It does not include nail salons or spas.
Officials say businesses that are opening must have safety plan provided by state. Businesses must also affirm that they read the guidance.
Officials discussed the task force on economic recovery, which consists of 26 members of the business community. The task force will deal with what issues businesses are facing.
