Westchester County may be joining a school bus safety program already in place at some Hudson Valley school districts.

A new bill will allow the county to set up cameras on school bus stop arms to enforce penalties on drivers who fail to stop at them.

Officials say the legislation will cost violators between $250 to $300 dollars depending how many violations were made.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said the intent of the legislation is to make the cost of the ticket "so significant that you won't…do the infraction."
