The water is back on in Yonkers after Monday's massive water main break flooded several streets and homes.
The break happened early Monday morning on King Street near Nepperhan and Executive boulevards.
Officials in Yonkers say the freezing and thawing of the pipes this winter was just too much for the old pipes to take.
Department of Public Works crews told News 12 they have already put a valve in place and replaced one of the pipes.
Crews say they will continue work to replace additional valves in an effort to make the repairs last longer.
In the meantime, homeowners are still dealing with damage caused by the flooding.
Scott Blasetti, of the Yonkers DPW, says he and his team have already filled up three truckloads of damaged belongings from about a half-dozen homes.
Yonkers DPW Commissioner Tom Meier says he hopes to have the major repairs on King Street finished before the end of the week.
