A Wappingers Falls man has been sentenced to six months in prison for in the fentanyl-induced death of his infant daughter.

Prosecutors say Thomas Martinez, 41, failed to take precautions to protect his 10-month-old from drug exposure.

She was pronounced dead at a hospital in 2020 after Dutchess County police responded to a 911 call reporting an unconscious child inside a home on Creekview Court.

The Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy and determined that the cause of death was acute fentanyl intoxication.

Martinez pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide last month.

He will serve five years of probation following the completion of his prison sentence.
