298ds agoWalgreens began to vaccinate children ages 5-11 against COVID-19 on Saturday.
The Centers Disease Control and Prevention's advisory committee unanimously recommended the Pfizer vaccine for children in that age group. An estimated 28 million children nationwide are now available for the shot.
The Pfizer vaccine is currently the only COVID-19 shot approved for children. The dosage is one-third than the adult shot.

"My concern is that this has just been authorized for the 5-to-11-year-olds and we do not know if there's going to be any complications," says Ardsley pediatrician Dr. Rosa Spatoliatore.
Dr. Spatoliatore encourages children to get vaccinated at state-run sites instead of retail sites.
Walgreens has an appointment portal online for parents to sign up their children.
