Final farewells will be held this week for the Dutchess County man who died after crashing his helicopter into a midtown Manhattan building.
Visitation for Timothy McCormack was held Monday at the Miller Funeral Home in Poughkeepsie.
The 58-year-old from Clinton Corners, was killed last week. No one else was hurt in the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board is handling the investigation into the crash.
Preliminary reports are that McCormack got lost in last Monday's rain and fog, and could not get back to the heliport from where he took off on East 34th Street.
In the wake of the crash, New York Sen. Charles Schumer wants the FAA to require all helicopters be equipped with "black box" data recorders. McCormack's helicopter did not have a black box.
McCormack was a Poughkeepsie native who attended Arlington High School. He was a 25-year member of the East Clinton Fire Department and served as chief for 10 years. He was also a member of the LaGrange Fire Department.
Funeral services for McCormack will be held Tuesday at St. Mary's Church in Poughkeepsie.
