Hundreds of volunteers in Rye helped needy children get prepared for the school year.
Helping Hands Rye volunteers filled more than 2,000 backpacks with supplies to make the start of school a little easier for local students.
The volunteers stocked the backpacks at the Church of the Resurrection.
For the past 26 years, the organization has been filling backpacks with the school supplies to help families in need.
The backpacks are going to 20 organizations throughout Westchester, and are worth about $150.
