Peekskill police arrested 10 teens they say are involved in two assault cases, including a victim of one of the attacks.
Peekskill police say they did not know about one of the attacks until Peter Makinde and five other teens assaulted 16-year-old Dominque Hollberg inside a Mohegan Lake Wal-Mart on October 13. Police say Hollberg was hit with a bat, punched and kicked by his attackers. According to police, that attack was in retaliation for an earlier altercation outside Peekskill High School that involved Hollberg.
Now, Hollberg is charged with assault, along with three other teens, for the first attack outside the school. Police say in the first assault, a 16-year-old victim received a gash on his head when he was hit with a padlock. He was not seriously injured. Hollberg also suffered a head injury during the Wal-Mart bat attack, which sent him to the hospital.
What police find particularly upsetting is that after the first attack, the victim's friends turned to vigilante justice to settle the score. Police say they believe everyone involved in the two assaults have been identified and arrested.
