Vice President Kamala Harris got an inside look at life aboard the International Space Station.
She got to speak with astronauts aboard the ISS during a visit to NASA Johnson Space Center in Texas. 
She also chaired a meeting of the National Space Council.
"I am so excited to be with you all --as vice president, as the head of the Space Council and as an American who is a space nerd, I'm so thrilled to be with each one of you and thank you for your excellence, thank you for your service," she said. 
Harris also announced new commitments to support space-related STEM initiatives to prepare our next generation
