Transportation officials have issued a traffic alert for drivers planning to travel over the Tappan Zee Bridge this weekend.
There will be triple lane closures on the northbound side of the span throughout the weekend starting Friday night. Only one lane will be open northbound, so drivers can expect severe delays on I-87 and even westbound of 1-287.
The lanes reportedly will be shut down from 9 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday, and again from 9 p.m. Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday.
Officials caution that the closures are dependent on the weather, with construction being postponed in event of rain. A rain date for the closures is set for May 6.
All southbound lanes will remain open during the weekend.
