Investigators: Victim in Hillcrest murder-suicide subjected to domestic violence

News 12 is learning more about the victim and shooter in Wednesday's deadly incident on Inwood Drive in Hillcrest.
It has been one day since at 56-year-old woman was shot and killed in Rockland.
News 12 is not releasing her name because she was subjected to domestic violence but messages on Facebook remember her a beautiful person inside and out.
Police say the suspect 53-year-old Lawrence Byrd took his own life hours later in Stamford, Connecticut .
Police there are investigating the suicide.
Byrd was recently living in Norwalk but records show he lived at the Hillcrest home from January 2020 to August 2021.
According to investigators, he and the victim had been in a long-term relationship and authorities say there were incidents of domestic violence in the past.
News 12 has learned from a source that the two were recently in family court.
Family court records are not open to the public.
