Metro-North train stations and other transportation hubs in the Hudson Valley are expected to be a little more crowded over the next few days.
Security was stepped up in Yonkers, where local law enforcement has been equipped with automatic weapons.
Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner insists he ordered the beefed up presence for precautionary measures.
He says that with the pope, the U.N. General Assembly and President Barack Obama in New York City in the next week, law enforcement agencies outside of the city need to be prepared.
