Town of Highlands fire that displaced 7 people deemed suspicious by police

A Town of Highlands fire that threw a first responding police officer in the air during an explosion is now being investigated as suspicious, according to state police. 

The incident occurred at a multifamily home on Rivercrest Road early Friday morning 

Two Town of Highlands police officers, Brandon Hill and Brian Newberry, helped several people and a pet pig to safety, according to officials. 

Hill was seen on cellphone video, given to News 12, being thrown from the front porch during the fire and an explosion while trying to help people. 

Authorities say seven people lived inside two units in the home.

Authorities say no one was hurt.
