Drivers that use the Tappan Zee Bridge or the New York State Thruway will now have to dig a little deeper into their pockets.The Thruway Authority says the toll hikes are necessary due to a decrease in drivers. Without the increases, officials say needed construction projects would have to be postponed or canceled.Drivers paying cash on the Tappan Zee Bridge will now pay $5, a 50 cent increase. E-ZPass riders will now be required to pay $4.75 and those on the commuter plan will pay $3, a 50 percent hike.Tolls on the New York State Thruway have gone up 25 cents, to $1.25.Commercial vehicles are set to face another toll hike in 2010.
