A new campaign across Long Island is working to educate children about school bus safety.
Bus-Patrol and board members for Hiawatha Elementary School launched the "Thumbs Up Campaign" in Ronkonkoma on Friday.
It is part of an effort to bring awareness and educate Suffolk County students on the rules of the road during National School Bus Safety Week.
The day's program featured quizzes, activity books, songs, animation videos and more education fun for children in the classroom.
CEO of Bus-Patrol Jean Souliere says the goal is to make them aware of how they can behave in a safer way and how they can depend on the instructions of their school bus driver to keep themselves safe.
Bus-Patrol recently opened its New York State School Bus Safety Center in Hauppauge.
