Pedestrian killed in early morning Thruway crash in Yonkers

State police say it happened around 3:56 a.m. on the southbound side of I-87, just south of Exit 6A. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

A pedestrian was struck and killed early Thursday morning on the New York State Thruway in Yonkers, prompting a major emergency response and road closure.
State police say it happened around 3:56 a.m. on the southbound side of I-87, just south of Exit 6A. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
All lanes that were closed for the investigation have since reopened, with traffic resuming around 7:45 a.m.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family. No tickets have been issued, and the investigation is ongoing.
