Hundreds are expected to head to Kensico Dam in Valhalla this evening for the annual July 4 fireworks show.

Westchester County officials strongly suggest arriving early and carpooling or taking mass transit.

A DJ will start playing music at 5 p.m for the family-friendly event.

Spectators should bring blankets or lawn chairs, and many bring baskets as well. At 7 p.m., the Naked Soul Bandtakes center stage. The fireworks spectacular begins around 9 p.m. with the historic Kensico Dam as the backdrop.

Admission and parking are free.

Meanwhile, the rush to hit the road for the holiday weekend has already begun. AAA says 72 million Americans are expected to travel this year. Independence Day travel is up 2.4% this year.

Travel experts say lower gas prices are part of the reason. Prices nationwide haven't been this low since 2021.
