A South Salem man was arrested Saturday after state police say he failed a field sobriety test while driving on the Taconic State Parkway with a 10-year-old child in the car.

Troopers say 49-year-old Thomas Dunn was traveling northbound on the parkway and showed signs of intoxication during the traffic stop.

He was taken to State Police Livingston for processing, where authorities say a chemical breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of .13%.

The 10-year-old passenger was released to a sober third party.

Dunn is now facing a felony charge of driving while intoxicated with a child passenger, commonly known as Leandra’s Law, as well as a charge of driving while intoxicated.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in court on July 2.
