Thousands of runners from around the world crossed through the five boroughs for the 49th annual New York City Marathon Sunday.
The TCS New York City Marathon is 26.2 miles long.
More than 50,000 runners started in Staten Island at Fort Wadsworth, went over the Verrazano Bridge and into Brooklyn.
The course took them through Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, Gowanus, Park Slope, Fort Greene, Williamsburg and Greenpoint before moving on to Queens.
The runners then crossed the finish line in Central Park at Tavern on the Green.
This is the largest marathon in the world. People come from across the world for the event. Nearly 130 countries were represented at last year's race.
In the past, $40 million has been raised for charity through this event.
Geoffrey Kamworor, of Kenya, won the men's race, marking his second title in three years. He crossed the finish line in Central Park with a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 13 seconds.
Joyciline Jepkosgei, also of Kenya, won the women's title, upsetting four-time winner Mary Keitany. Jepkosgei clocked in at 2 hours, 22 minutes and 38 seconds.
