Thousands gathered Wednesday night in Orange County's largest Hasidic community for a religious celebration.

People showed up to pray and dance around a giant bonfire in the Town of Palm Tree, formerly known as Kiryas Joel, for the annual Lag Ba'Omer festival.           

The event is held every year outside the Satmar synagogue on Garfield Road.

It marks the anniversary of the death of an ancient rabbinical sage who wrote parts of the Talmud. "He was the first one, founder of the Zohr Kabbalah. He was a strong, strong Torah leader, we all follow the Torah," says Yidz Farkas.

The rejoicing also focuses on loving and respecting everyone in the community.

As per custom, women celebrated in a nearby area, separated from the men.
