'Tis the season for giving, but holiday tipping has faced its share of challenges lately, from inflation to record credit card debt and remote work.

According to experts:

  • For a regular babysitter, tipping one night's pay is recommended.

  • A dog walker might receive up to one week's pay or an equivalent gift.

  • As for your barber, tipping up to the cost of a haircut is suggested.

  • For a trash and recycling collector, $10 to $30 dollars cash or a gift, if it complies with municipal rules.

  • For a handyman, $15 to $40 dollars or a similar gift.

These are guidelines — remember, it's the sentiment, whether in cash, homemade treats, a small gift, or just a card, that truly matters.
