Ten horses were killed and a barn completely destroyed after a blaze in Chestnut Ridge Wednesday.
Sixty firefighters arrived on the scene around 1:30 a.m. to battle the blaze on Ackertown Road. Firefighters say the Shamrock Farms barn was completely covered by flames when they arrived. Firefighters tried to get into the building to save the horses, but the heat was too intense. The owner was able to save two horses.Officials are now looking into the cause of that barn fire. Ten years ago, a fire at the same farm killed 15 horses.
