A 15-year-old suspect was indicted Tuesday in the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old Mount Vernon high school cheerleader and the assault of another student in April.
The teen defendant is charged with first-degree manslaughter and two counts of assault in the first and second degrees.
Kayla Green was fatally stabbed on Gramatan Avenue on April 8. Another teen was injured but survived.
Kayla Green's family say they are disappointed with the charges. They've been rallying for the Westchester District Attorney's Office to upgrade charges to murder and attempted murder.
The suspect is being held without bail.
