An 18-year-old boy is facing charges, accused of leading police on a chase on an unregistered dirt bike, according to the Red Hook Police Department.
An officer on Sunday saw the bike traveling on Linden Avenue and tried to pull it over, but the rider apparently ignored the officer and drove off.
A second officer later saw the bike speeding down South Broadway and also attempted a stop. The rider continued fleeing, at one point riding on sidewalks.
He tried cutting through a business parking lot but lost control and crashed.
Police arrested the unidentified teen and confiscated the bike. He is charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer and reckless driving.
The arrest follows multiple complaints from Red Hook residents about unregistered and recklessly operated dirt bikes throughout the village.
