A Tarrytown couple got engaged on the walkway along the Mario Cuomo Bridge.

John Manning popped the question on June 16 to his longtime girlfriend Charlotte Friedlander, and she said yes.

"I was not expecting it at all because he's such a planner," says Friedlander. "He was like, 'The bridge is open, why don't we just walk over it tonight?'"

Manning says he proposed in the evening while the lights in the area were scenic.

The couple has been together for five years and say they plan to marry sometime next year.
