Lawmakers have announced that toll rates for the Tappan Zee Bridge will be frozen until 2020.
The rate freeze means the price will remain at $5 for almost four years.
State Sen. David Carlucci says the predictability of the toll's rates will attract businesses and commuters to live in Rockland and Westchester counties.
The $700 million plan was made official as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo passed it as part of the state's budget.
The plan also leaves the possibility for a toll discount for those who live on either side of the Tappan Zee, but hearings are yet to be held in either county.
The Rockland County side of the bridge will also switch to cashless money collection starting on April 23.
Carlucci asked residents to purchase an E-ZPass, despite the office that once sold them in Rockland County now being closed.
The county clerk's office, though, may soon sell the pass.
