A house fire damaged a home in Tappan, officials say. News 12 was told the family was not home at the time of the fire.

The fire was primarily located in the kitchen area and quickly spread throughout the first and second floors.

A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke come from the home.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
