One of Westchester's top environmental nonprofits was awarded a first-of-its-kind grant from the U.S. Energy Department.
Mount Kisco's Sustainable Westchester is one of nine organizations nationwide to split $45 million from the Renew America's Nonprofits program.
The money will go toward energy-efficient upgrades at 32 nonprofit-owned buildings in the county.
The nonprofits will have to submit portfolios to the federal government identifying subrecipients, projects, and impact studies by next June.
