A man has been arrested on a felony warrant in connection with a sexual assault case in Ulster County.

Faisal Saif, 37, was taken into custody Monday at JFK Airport and detained by Homeland Security officials before being turned over to Kingston police.

The arrest follows an investigation that began in February of last year after a 28-year-old was sexually assaulted at Rondout Market. Police say Saif left the country and reportedly traveled to Yemen after learning of the investigation.

As evidence developed, a warrant was issued for a first-degree criminal sexual act. Saif was arraigned in Kingston City Court and released with orders to report to pretrial supervision.

The investigation remains open, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Kingston Detective Division.
