A 16-year-old is in police custody for allegedly killing one of his peers.
Police say they arrested Berinzon Moronta hours after 17-year-old Tahj Robinson was stabbed to death during a confrontation in Barnhardt Park Friday night.
Moronta was arraigned on second-degree murder charges Saturday afternoon.
Students say Moronta moved into Tarrytown two years ago from Yonkers, and that he and his family live in an apartment near the center of town..
Robinson is remembered among his classmates for being popular, funny, an avid athlete and aspiring musician. A former classmate says Robinson was a student at Sleepy Hollow Middle School before he moved away to New Jersey.
A vigil was held for Robinson on Saturday night at Barnhardt Park.
Sleepy Hollow High School's homecoming was due to be held on Saturday, but all activities were canceled in the wake of the incident, including the game.
Moronta remains in custody in the Westchester County Department of Corrections.
