A suspect has been arrested in the killing of a man in Mount Kisco.
Westchester County police say they arrested Freddy Coronado-Mendez, 34, in New Jersey Monday. Coronado-Mendez is charged with first-degree manslaughter in the death of 53-year-old Jose Sanchez.
Sanchez was found dead in a swampy wooded area off Leido Avenue on Sunday night by a relative. Sanchez was known to frequent the area to socialize.
Sanchez's death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy showed the cause of death was blunt force trauma after a struggle. Police say there were witnesses to the fight.
Police say Coronado-Mendez, a native of Guatemala, and Sanchez, a native of Honduras, knew each other. Cops say Coronado-Mendez has been deported twice and has a long history of violent crimes, including assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
Westchester County police are working with New Jersey officials to extradite Coronado-Mendez.
