SUNY officials are implementing new measures to protect students and faculty from the Ebola virus.
In a recent memo, the university system's chancellor announced changes to the "Ebola Working Group" program, which include expanding the committee monitoring the potential Ebola threat and continuing a ban on school-sponsored trips to Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. State university officials say stepped up measures to stop the disease from spreading are in response to "ongoing developments in the United States."
Campus officials say they will also continue efforts to identify potential visitors from the affected West African countries and hold more emergency drills.
The state university system's three hospitals have already practiced a number of safety drills. Campuses with health centers will soon start doing the same.
