School officials at SUNY Purchase changed a college dorm due to students finding the name offensive.

Students told school officials they found the name Big Haus offensive because of the negative connotation of a prison. They presented several other potential names, and Central was chosen.

SUNY's president says the building is central to the campus, but there’s a deeper meaning as well.

"It also gives meaning in terms of a location, bringing people together to be able to share ideas and to create together," says SUNY President Milagros Peña.
