Suffern police arrested a six-time convicted felon following a lengthy investigation.
Gustavo Roche, 43, is facing several charges, including stolen property, illegal possession of a weapon and drug charges.
News 12 is told he was arrested yesterday during a SWAT raid at a home on Prairie Avenue.
Authorities say they found $57,000 in cash, along with 60 grams of heroin, cocaine and a stolen firearm.
“This residence is in a very, very good residential community,” says Suffern Police Department Chief Clarke Osborn. “Hard-working people and a lot of children there."
Officials say that the investigation began after residents complained of suspicious behavior in the area.
According to Rockland County’s District Attorney Tom Walsh, the county saw a 29% increase in overdoses over the past two years.
"We managed to stop some drug activity and as the chief just eluded to perhaps helped saved a neighborhood," says Walsh. "We also send a strong message today that those predators that prey in our community and the weak will be rooted out."
Roche is being housed at the Rockland County jail.
Investigators say more charges are likely to come and they’re reminding residents to report any suspicious activity.
