Police say a house in Warwick was hit Wednesday afternoon by a stray bullet that ricocheted and struck the house from about 1,800 feet away.
The homeowner showed News 12 the shattered window at the back of the house on Crystal Farm Road.
Authorities say a group of licensed firearm owners were legally target-practicing in a rural but residential area nearby on Jones Road when a bullet ricocheted and cracked the window.
The homeowner tells News 12 that his wife and responding police heard shots fired in the woods behind their house when she called for help, which is how he says the group was found.
News 12 is told no one was home at the time and that no one was hurt.
Authorities say the group that was target-practicing was identified and agreed to pay for the broken window.
