The Rockland County community paid tribute to two Nanuet police officers and a security guard who lost their lives 36 years ago during the Brinks armored car robbery.
Nyack Police Sergeant Edward O'Grady, officer Waverly "Chipper" Brown and Brinks security guard Peter Paige were killed in a shootout with self-proclaimed revolutionaries on Oct. 20, 1981.
Hundreds came out to remember the three men who sacrificed their lives. The annual ceremony is held at the site of the shootout on Mountainview Avenue in Nyack.
"They stood their ground and put down that natural sense of fear to protect this community and protect the country," said Rockland County Executive, Ed Day.
