Less cold, more wind to start the week on Long Island

Hold on to your hats! Temperatures are less brutal, but the wind will be strong. We're tracking the worst of it and a few snowflakes to close off January.

  • Seasonable temperatures through Wednesday, but it will be windy each day.

We are on track to finish January as the driest on record. The pattern will be stormier to start February. First, let's look at today and the work week!
Today is an improvement! High temperatures will approach 40 for the first time in a week, but the sun will only briefly peek out this afternoon and windy conditions are expected. Temperatures will remain seasonable for Monday and Tuesday, but breezy conditions continue.
Ample sunshine is expected on Monday, but cloudy skies on Tuesday could bring brief snow flurries. Temperatures are above freezing though, and the air is dry so little to no accumulation is expected.
Wednesday will have the highest temperatures of the week. We are forecasting mid to upper 40s with a chance for rain or snow showers. It will be breezy.
Thursday is windy and cold. High temperatures will be below freezing, but it will feel like the teens.
Next weekend looks stormy. It's too soon for specifics on precipitation type, keep checking back for updates!
