STORM WATCH: Periods of rain and storms will bring messy travel today for The Bronx

Here’s what you need to know:
A HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK is in effect through this evening. Life-threatening rip currents are likely at the Brooklyn and Queens beaches today.
It's a foggy, damp and humid start to the day. Temperatures are in the upper 60s to low 70s.
Today will be a messy day. Rounds of showers and storms will bring ponding and localized flooding through late tonight. High temperatures will be in the low to mid-70s.
The worst of the storm will be after 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with drenching downpours, strong to damaging winds and possible rotation with any severe storms. 0.75-1.5" of rainfall expected through early Friday morning. Stay tuned for updates!
Friday's forecast is improving with increasing sunshine, warm temperatures near 80 degrees and muggy conditions.
Saturday is trending drier but there's still a chance of rain on Sunday. It won't be a washout, but we'll continue to keep you up to date on the forecast.
TRACKING THE TROPICS: Tropical Storm Humberto formed yesterday in the Atlantic. It is forecast to move Northwest over the next few days as it strengthens to a hurricane by this weekend near Bermuda. Hurricane Gabrielle continues to move east towards the Azores as it weakens over the next few days. There's currently a tropical wave near Tropical Storm Humberto that has a high chance of developing in the next few days. This system will bring heavy rain and and gusty winds to Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic through today. We'll continue to monitor these storms to see if they pose any threat to the U.S. by next week. Coastal impacts along the east coast could be a concern by the middle of next week.
