Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz introduced the Connecticut Shellfish Restoration Plan.
The plan will promote restoration, recycling, and the rebuilding of shellfish beds in Long Island Sound.
"As you can see it's a beautiful natural resource and with the very hard work of key stakeholders coupled with this legislation over time, we're going to be able to improve the water quality here in our state, improve our habitats and remove access nutrients from very sensitive coastal habitats," said Bysiewicz.
The Connecticut Seafood Development Council will be overseeing the project.
