Gov. Kathy Hochul was in Ulster County Friday to denounce the federal cuts signed into law by President Donald Trump two weeks ago.

Hochul said the cuts will deprive people in need of health care and food assistance while at the same time hurting health care workers.

"Medicaid is a lifeline," said Hochul. "One-third of all New Yorkers benefit from this program, half of all children benefit from this program and 40-thousand people right here in this district stand to lsoe it. These are your friends and neighbors."

Trump has called Democrats' concerns about the cuts a "con job" and insists the package is popular.
