The Spring Valley football team has been undergoing a lot of challenges the last couple of weeks.
First, the Tigers couldn't find an opponent to play after a shooting took place in the city.
And this past week, former player and 2004 grad Jared Lloyd died fighting a fire. The team honored Lloyd before the Tigers game against Clarkstown South.
Several members of Lloyd's fire company were recognized on the field. “It was really nice. Appreciate they recognized him for the hero that he was. It's pretty surreal. Hard to put into words,” says Eric Cich, Colombian Fire Co. 1 ex-captain.
“He always had a smile on his face never mad, never wanted any issues; he was always a problem solver,” says Austin Ambrose, Colombian Fire Co. 1 captain.
